French Immersion in Burnaby

We are relocating back to Burnaby with 2 kids. I've been lookinG into French immersion (elementary school) for my oldest.

Does anyone have any experience with the system? Is public better than private?

I have found some private French immersion schools as well but I would like to hear some opinions.

You might want to hunt down a Burnaby specific forum. I don't think we have any active members from there.

French is of minimal use here in British Columbia-Mandarin or Spanish would be much more useful.
