New hospitals for Comox Valley and Campbell River

yes, finally is right for sure.
this has gone on for years now, made a decision a couple of times, but then it would be blown apart
by arguements about location etc etc.
I like the location previous to the one that is chosen in courtenay, which was past the mazda lot
but the military base stopped that because it was inside their flight zone for structures that would have
been too high.
the site right beside north island college is fine, but does seem to be a tad squished in between the
college and lerwick, but maybe there is more room there can meets the eye.
don't know where campbell rivers site is.

Huh. My question is, "Are there enough employee's for the hospitals
that currently exist, before adding two more hospitals?"
Seriously, the issue out here is that we don't have enough staff for the
facilities that currently exist, let alone any new ones (like a Children's
Hospital proposed to open in Saskatoon eventually). South Africa &
the Philippines can only ship out just so medical professionals at any
given time, with shortfalls being filled by India....but even that is not
enough to have full staffing with the current facilities.

Campbell River will be at its existing location.
Isn't the new Comox Valley location at a higher point than the old location?
What's great is some kids around here want to grow up and become employees in med professions, ie nursing. This might give them an opportunity to learn and work without having to spend too learning time out of town.
It's amazing how many kids who grow up on the North Island have to leave once they graduate high school.

it will be built right beside north island college, near the equatic center, and across
the street from home depot.

in courtenay, we won't have another hospital, we will have a new hospital, and the
old one will be sized down considerably, but still a type of hospital, at least
that is what I know at this moment, could be totally different when completed,
as I don't think there is a definite planned use for the old hospital, but it
will still be there.
So they're moving staff from the old one to the new ones? Cool.

yes, it probably is, close to crown isle. That whole area, around the intersection of lerwick
and ryan is high, then it starts downward again, once you pass crown isle, going east toward
the ocean.
The last site they wanted to use was along ryan past crown isle, but on the other
side of ryan road, not quite as high as the existing site, but it was 'inside' the
flight zone for the military, and they wouldn't allow the structures that would
be higher than they would allow, towers etc.
I guess the existing building site is 'just' outside the flight zone, because it is
less than a mile from the last choice.
Yes, both communities have old existing hospitals.
The debate around here for years has been whether to have two hospitals or one large regional hospital. That might have been better for Courtenay-Comox but very bad for Campbell River. It's difficult to market yourself for retirees when they have to commute for hospital services. Today's decision is one that we have been hoping for, way too long.
OK, that makes sense. I was thinking Mazda was more into central Courtenay.
it use to be, but the new one (about 3 years now) is across from crown isle, toyota is there too and nissan, all quite new, near costco.
