Spade, with his limited imagination and malicious wishes for anyone who disagrees with him, the Oracle of all Wisdom did not realize that you your "Hey!" was in response to my taking your name in vain, in the last word of my first sentence of my post #58.

Since Reagan’s days, conservatism can be summarized as follows: Cut taxes, spend like a drunken sailor, borrow like there is no tomorrow and run up huge debt and deficit.

Only Reagan had one more endearing quality, he was fond of cutting spending for the poor (not the rich, of course, one can’t be a Republican and penalize the rich in any manner whatever).

Bizzymum, please take the trophy. You are indubitably the second most deserving recipient of the Porter Admirer (or sume such Award).

Yep. A buffoon.

A buffoon who was well ahead of his time on civil rights, who reputedly didn't seem to notice a person's race, as far back as the 1930s.

A buffoon who broke the back of the Soviet Union by refusing to be conned into cutting them an economic and military break.......thus causing complete collapse, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the liberation of millions upon millions of citizens of eastern Europe.

A buffoon who inherited a national unemployment rate of 7.5% in January of 1981........one that rose to a high of 10.8% in 1982..................and was steady at 5.4% when he left office in January of 1989.

Some buffoon!!!!!!!!!

RR was FAR from perfect.............but the left, as always, has absolutely no problem ignoring any facts that soil their preconceived interpretation of history.....

Yep, a buffoon who sold out anyone and everyone in Hollywood as a commie, because apparently he was scared by a commie when he was a kid.

And this foolishness of giving Reagan the credit for destroying the Soviet Union is hilarious. Osama bin Laden claims the same credit, he and the Taliban destroyed the Soviet Union by forcing them out of Afghanistan.

So, I guess we need to put Reagan and binLaden on equal footing, and that makes sense, because they were friends, back in the day.

There are a lot of things I didn't like about Ronald Reagan.....and his behaviour as head of SAG is one of them, as is his creation of the Contras and the arms for hostages deal that took place on his watch.

But Ronald Reagan was a major factor in the crumbling of the USSR......the nation was financially strapped, economically unable to continue as a nation completely and solely primed for conflict.....and RR refused to back off and give them the respite they desperately needed to keep the empire intact, thus RR is llargely responsible for the liberation of eastern Europe, and history will remember him as one of the best Presidents of the 20th Century....

.....and NOBODY is more surprized than I....but facts are facts.

BTW, the group that Bin Laden belonged to in the war vs the USSR in Afghanistan refused to take tainted US funds....and was armed and supplied completely from funds raised from Saudi Arabia.........the idea that bin Laden is a US construct is completely false.

I've been pointing that out for years. The Afghan Rebels made sure that Bin Laden was no where near the CIA Operatives after his initial meeting with them and Osama claiming that America is next in so many words. They did not want this rich boy mercenary screwing up their Stinger shipments.

Since I was laid off I've been watching a lot of daytime TV and I would like to add to list of Americans that I admire. I think this person is a phenomenal judge and she should be the President.

Is what your living for worth Christ dying for? - Leonard Ravenhill

If JC ascended to heaven in his body (alive) then he can't be dead. Therefore he couldn't have died for your sins. Guess that means you are responsible for them after all.

Why do you make me type these things out when you already know what the Christian response is?

Christ was executed - which means he died. He was dead. Luke 23:33

God resurrected him - which means he was made alive again. He appeared to his followers before he ascended in heaven. John 20:17

Fulfilling the promise God made, which was to send a perfect sacrifice to die for all sin, and fulfilling the numerous prophecies from hundreds of years prior. Isiah 53:5

If Christ died for my sins, he forgives my sins, he took the punishment for my sins, - what responsibility do I have? None. When Christ forgave me, I become a new person and the old me, died. 2 Corinthians 5:17 . That's what Christ's life and death are all about. His blood washes sin away. Clean slate. You may not like the fact that I confidently tell you about the peace and joy I continually have. - BUT YOU CAN HAVE IT FOR YOURSELF!!! IT'S RIGHT IT FRONT OF YOU, FREE FOR THE TAKING! YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE!

You have no excuse because you know all of this Cliffy. What will be you defense on Judgement day? You certainly can't plead ignorance. You've done bad stuff in your life, you know it. Why not give it all to Christ and start over? Why not challenge the promises he made to you?

That's kinda the problem right there, in my not very humble opinion. I think that claim is ethically bankrupt and a belief system that preaches it is immoral. You ARE responsible for what you do, and you remain responsible in perpetuity, nobody can lift that from you. Personal responsibility is fundamental to ethics and morality, without it they mean nothing. Punishing somebody else for what you do wrong is evil. Christopher Hitchens has that one right.

I wouldn't exactly be bringing up these 4 people when you start talking about Americans to be proud of.

especially the 4th one... haha

Paris Hilton may be Hot (although I think she could use a better face), but she's dummber than a sack of nails.

Bolton is just irritating.

and Bush? well... let your imagination drive you!

I love Americans (especially my wife and son) but I can't stand Tebow. I hate excessive media hype over pretty much anyone but the way he has undeservingly dominated NFL reporting this season is offensive. I don't care about his beliefs: I just care that he is trying to pretend he is a QB at the highest level of professional football. (OK yeah it didn't help him in my eyes that his one respectable game this season was against the Steelers that my wife and I cheer for...)
