Shown last night on BBC1:

In the presence of Her Majesty the Queen and members of the royal family, Huw Edwards presents the Royal British Legion's annual Festival of Remembrance, which pays tribute to all victims of war and conflict, from its usual venue at London's Royal Albert Hall.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War; the 70th anniversary of D-Day; and the end of Britain's role in the War in Afghanistan.

Soul singer Joss Stone and guitarist Jeff Beck perform this year's Poppy Appeal single; and the stars of War Horse and D-Day veteran Jim Radford perform alongside the Massed Bands of the Household Division, the bands of HM Royal Marines (the Royal Marines have been celebrating their 350th anniversary this year) and the Queen's Colour Squadron.

Get your hankies at the ready as a woman tells of the loss of her husband in Afghanistan before she and others who have also lost loved ones who died serving their country parade into the Albert Hall to stirring music.

As the ceremony nears the end, serving members of the British Armed Forces parade into the Hall.

As poppy petals fall from the roof of the Royal Albert Hall, the festival remembers the many who made the ultimate sacrifice, from World War I to the present day, in a two minute silence.
