A woman convicted of deliberately poisoning four young children in her care has been released from prison and will be living in Brampton, Peel police are warning.
Police said Christine Allen, 36, was to be released on parole Monday, July 24 and is at an “elevated risk” to reoffend, says Correctional Service Canada.
A Kitchener resident at the time of the crimes, she was released after serving a six-year sentence. Allen was convicted of four counts of administering a noxious substance to cause bodily harm in 2014. She deliberately poisoned four young children in her care. All four fell ill, and one suffered “serious harm,” said police.
Peel police issued a public safety advisory, warning about Allen’s release and decision to live in Brampton.
She will be living in the area of Charolais Boulevard. Allen is under several restrictions, including not being in the presence of any children under 16 unless accompanied by a responsible adult who has been approved by her parole officer.
“Peel Regional Police are advising the public to use caution if they encounter Allen and parents should be cognizant of their children’s activities and aware of the individuals with whom they are associating,” the advisory cautions.
Police said they will be working with Correctional Service Canada to monitor her in the community.
