Woman finds black widow spider in bag of grapes from Troy Walmart
TROY, Mich. (WXYZ) - A woman made a disturbing discovery after grocery shopping at the Walmart Supercenter in Troy.
When Ariel Jackson returned home and opened her bag of grapes, a black widow spider crawled out.
Jackson is still shaken up by the incident, the mere presence of a spider web caused her to jump out of her seat as we sat down to interview her.
The spider crawled out of the grapes while she was rinsing them in the sink.
“I’ve never seen one before in person and then here it is, 'hi!'” she said.
She was terrified and she wasn’t sure what to do next so she called 9-1-1.
“When I called them, I said 'this isn’t really an emergency, but I have a black widow spider' and he’s like ‘just kill it’ and I’m like 'me? You want me to kill it?'”
Eventually her brother and boyfriend took care of the situation.
Produce is routinely checked by US Customs, but sometimes things slip through the cracks.
Ariel is just glad she found the spider before anyone got hurt.
“I’m going to take a break from grapes for a little while.”
Walmart issued this statement.

To bad the brother killed it.. I would have kept it as a pet..
I was bit by one of those when I lived in California.. never go to the park and fall asleep under a palm tree. Had enough venom in it to paralyze my leg for 2 weeks, and on some heavy drugs.
