A defense official confirmed today that high-level discussions are under way to decide whether U.S. forces will be pulled out of the Sinai peninsula because of the danger posed by ISIS.

About 700 troops are currently part of the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) mission in the region established by the 1979 peace deal.

Joint Staff Vice Director for Operations Rear Adm. Andrew Lewis told reporters at the Pentagon today that reports stating two outposts outside the northern camp in the Sinai had been closed were incorrect.

"Operationally, we have people there that are committed to the mission. And my focus is making sure that they have the force protection measures in place and we have increased the force protection measures in MFO Sinai, to ensure their maximum safety," Lewis said.
The admiral said there are no plans in place, but "those discussions are happening...whether to pull them out or not" within the U.S. government and the governments of Israel and Egypt. "And on those discussions are happening at the very highest levels," he added.

Send another 27,000 and perhaps we could send our troops to follow behind and do what we do best; train, according to what's his name?

Why should our troops feel threatened? They're peacekeepers and they should stick it out to keep the peace, all we need is another Rwanda because our boys pulled out.

You figure that ISIS subscribes to the Geneva Convention, the United Nations? ...stuff like that? See those Canadian troopers? Can you see some filthy ISIS savages holding up their severed heads on a You Tube video?

I sure as hell can.

I followed your post right up to 'filthy savages' and then I knew you are not in touch with reality.

We also do acts like that and much worse but the filming is not for public consumption let alone some propaganda tactic meant only for the sheeple of North America. Gitmo is a place we know about. A container left out in the out back of Iraq for a few months when it is full of POW's is something that has been verified so I think that ends our moral high ground as killing without reason and for propaganda reasons. We record all our executions in 1080 and in Saudi it is a public event yet it is just fine when it is Govt approved.

You seem to have come over that obstacle quite nicely, any insights as to how you arrived there as you seem to have a certain slant that might not be warranted. One of the biggest fears is that Muslims will treat 'us' like we have treated 'them' for the last 100 years or so when there is no actual basis for that 'fear' other than what comes out of the fear PR companies. (oddly enough it is tax dollars they receive so 'we' should give them a raise and pay them directly and they now report their findings to us. Basically, 'What lies were published in the news today?' and then a breakdown of the details.
