I must admit I'm a little tired to hear this myth heaps of people believe that Chinese-Indonesians control like 70%, 80%, or even 90% (take your pick!) of the economy in Indonesia. And the image of Chinese-Indonesians being cold-hearted and evil, because of a conduct of this tycoon who held staples in his warehouse to drive up the price during the Asian financial crisis (and I'm not even sure if this is true or it's just a rumour just like many others before or like the above).
Even if the act of this tycoon is true, it still doesn't mean that the Chinese-Indonesian women who were raped on the street in 1998 nor the Chinese-Indonesian mom-and-pop shop owners whose stores were vandalized deserved these!
And it really boiled my blood to hear derogatory remarks as if they did!
