Why are we in IRAQ?

I have initials for why I think we went to war in Iraq "O.I.L. O-I-L,
O is for oil, I is for Israel and L is for logistics, as in when we have Iraq we have a foothold and a number of bases strategically placed in the Middle East so we can be in control over there and also to protect Israel."

Any thoughts?????

Well it seems rather strange that the US would spend so much money on this war, rebuilding Iraq etc., risk the lives of thousands of American soldiers just to "free Iraq" (the we-are-against-WMD-and-that's-why-we-have-to-invade-Iraq argument seems a little bit odd with no WMD been found lately ... or never been found actually) while I don't see them reacting to other major conflicts, or bigger threats (e.g. North Korea). It would be logical to think that the US government wants to gain some money back from this "campaign". And where's the money in Iraq? Exactly :wink: .
