Who's not Bush?

Here in Washington over the usual heart-attack-on-a-plate American breakfast this morning I turned to the Washington Post for a summary of the elections.

"Has there ever been a more negative, dispiriting election?" asks columnist Eugene Robinson, clearly not expecting an answer. So I switched to the New York Times. Columnist Barry Schwartz called these elections "the sorriest, sleaziest, most disheartening and embarrassing in memory." Then I switched on the TV just to cheer myself up. The presenter was asking a pundit from the Los Angeles Times what it would be like if the Democrats failed to win the House of Representatives.

"Jonestown," replied the pundit, referring to a bizarre cult involved in a mass suicide many years ago.

So it all sounds fairly promising, then. The television advertisements I've been watching have almost all been negative. The overwhelming impression is that hundreds of criminals, rapscallions and ne'er do wells are currently on the loose on the streets of the United States all seeking election for the opposing political party.

The Democrat campaign seems to boil down to one phrase: "We're not George Bush." And the Republican campaign is similarly taut: "We're not George Bush either."

Somehow, however, American voters will sort it all out.

Well at least the Dems are trying to get the vote out to all the right people...

The state Elections Board (Dem controlled and already accused of rigging claims against the GOP candidate for guv) has just ordered the Milwaukee Election Commission to remove signs that tell felons on parole they can't legally vote or they will be prosecuted. They admit it's an accurate statement of the law. They don't want to "intimidate" voters.

They are doing this even though prosecutors want the signs up otherwise it will be hard to prove their case.

My ex husband worked for the Bush family in Midland when he was a teenager. They didnt pay him so he quit! Seems to me the whole family is a lot less than what they claim to be.

As Governer of Texas Bush sifted more funds to homeland security from the EDUCATION system!!! Can you tell by his speeches? I met the man, he's a redneck extremist and I would not be surprised if he was a closet KKK member. I had to live under this mans politics not only as President but as governer.....13 years now! PAN SAVE ME!!!!

Well if he's a closet KKK member does that make him a little better than this man?

Ok, I think you mean anecdote, but anyways...

Did you spend an extended amount of time with the President and former Governor? I'm a Texas resident also, I met the Bush's also while attending Texas A&M. I stood in the same room with them for one hour, and shook their hands when the ceremony was over with.

Do I claim to be close personal friends with them now? Nope.

A laid-off ex-husband with a wage dispute makes for weak evidence to prove the allegations of KKKlan'sm your laying at the feet of the President of The United States.

No I dont claim to be close and personal aquaintances Love :) BUT I DO claim to KNOW how my "tummy" feels when I meet a fake ......sorry but that feeling is just not arguable. I lived in the town , knew the people intamately and yes my ex was young and he was disgruntled but it proves to me the moral fiber of a person how they treat a young person who's done a great job and gets stiffed. Bush is not someone Id let watch my children let alone run my country. Thats MY opinion. If youor's differs please feel free to vote differently than me in 08. As for my spelling........please do excuse...Im just an ignorant left winger ;)

Senator Byrd openly admitted to past mistakes and apologized for them.

Saul of Tarsus was a convicted mass murderer but he repented and today he is called St Paul.

Ronald Reagan assisted in the genocide of 200,000 Ixils and he never apologized. Yet, many right wingers consider him a hero for conducting his Hitlerian campaign.
