who would you vote for?

i understand this is a biased poll i am testing my theory that this is an NDP forum(a forum that most people like the the NDP but not exclisivly NDP).

say why you like the party you vote for.

ps i made i mistake making the poll i excluded other and not sure. if any editor comes along fix it. for now just post if you are one of those

You forgot some of the other parties and never included "other" as a choice, meitme. I mentioned that we had a couple members of the CAP here...I believe one of them was even a candidate in the last election.

If I had to characterise this board, and I think I'm qualified than you simply because I've been here longer and know the people, I would say that it is primarily left-leaning, but not NDP. Most here will likely choose NDP in your poll at this point in time because the Liberals have moved so far to the right in recent years, but some will undoubtedly vote strategically for the Liberals in the next election, just as some Liberals, if they are paying attention to their own ridings at all, will strategically vote NDP.

In most of Canada, support is relatively soft for any given party. This board is no exception to that rule.

u know i suited this then figured out i screwed up. i forgot i never did what i meant to.( i was planning on going to the the last election website and see every party or at least of an other not sure and indepent part).

i do trust your judgement of the board but what i meant is that they would come out NDP in this vote.

Yes, I voted...and it won't surprise anyone here to hear that I voted NDP. My point was not that I had no one to vote for, but that the poll would not give you the scope of responses you were after.

you do not understand. if he wanted to vote in another in another catatgory he woulld not have voted. you see he was talking about other party's and did say he was conedering them in anohter post. so it is not crazy to say he may have wanted to vote for someone else.

No, I said others should consider other parties in another post. I said that because there were some who were suggesting that there are only two parties that count, the Liberals and the Conservatives. The thing is that democracy doesn't work that way. There are a variety parties representing a variety of viewpoints.

Part of the reason, a large part, that fewer Canadians are voting is that they don't feel they are represented by the choices they are given. Most of the choices are never mentioned in the media though, and the message that only votes for Liberals or Conservatives count come through loud and clear.

I doubt anybody in this thread could give an accurate representation of the party platforms of the NDP, Bloc, CAP, or any of a half-dozen other parties. Hell, I'll bet most have no real grasp of the Liberal or Conservative platforms. I'll also bet that everybody in this thread has mumbled something along the lines of, "Politicians, they're all the same," at some point in their lives.

I voted NDP as there was another thread in federal elections forum but I will post same answer here.


NDP,as the last election the top 3 were all within a few hundred votes and Gurment Grewal just squeaked in, I think he will be toast this time and it will be between NDP and Libs.

My riding did go NDP again in last years by-election (provincially) and stayed that way in last May's provincial election, so I think they have a good chance this time to take riding. Plus it will be the same main 3 running again in this riding.

My riding has gone Conservative in both Federal and provincal elections and is most likley to stay that way. Newfoundland is Liberal except the St.John's Area. which two conservatives won in.

Just my opinion........I vote Liberal in the last election

Its too bad that when we vote for a Prime Minister, we have to take his party. I still think the countries best bet is Mr Martin. I just do not like Steven Harper's approach and Jack Laton reminds me of a rat (if you think Paul Martin flip flops, how about Mr Laton).
After all is said and done - is one party really any better than the next???? Go back a few years and we could use the likes of JFK, Marg Thatcher, PET..... someone strong to run the country and not put up with any of the bulls#@$.
That person is still out there and none of the current leaders have strong leadership abilities. How about Alberta's Ralph for PM or is Canada ready for a woman PM???

OTTAWA (CP) - Prime Minister Paul Martin is leaving the political heat in Ottawa for a seaside resort in Argentina.

Martin will help host the fourth Summit of the Americas in Mar Del Plata this Friday and Saturday.

Thirty-three other leaders from North, South and Central America will be there, including U.S. President George W. Bush.

It will be a chance for Martin to escape days of attacks in the Commons over the sponsorship scandal and contaminated water on First Nations.

Summit leaders will be talking about ways to create more jobs and eliminate poverty.

Large anti-globalization demonstrations are expected, including one led by Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona.
