The first and maybe only vote for the U.S. is mine. I'd move there in a heartbeat for the following reasons

- business opportunities
- they speak the same language we used to
- the sheer size of the country affords all the weather variations one could want
- so for me it would have to be Arizona or Southern Cal, where I could downhill ski, swim/sail and play golf all in the same day.

It truly is a great country imo and not without its faults, like any other.

Andem, I'm just teasing  Personally, I do think that the US is still an option for me to emigrate to one day. Don't worry, it's not that I am attracted to the US by its leader ... But you do have to admit that the US is a country with a beautiful nature and kind people (right? at least, that's what I've heard from friends who have visited the US). But the same goes for Canada of course :)

In the poll I voted Europe. Specifically, it would have to be northern Italy, since I already lived there, I know what to expect and I like it. (and quite honestly I'm tired of moving to new countries - the excitement of new and unexpected has lost its appeal).

Sunshine, that feeling of moving to another country never loses it's appeal! You just have to find somewhere completely different to what you're used to! :D

I love your idea of northern Italy, I would probably be able to visit you if I ever moved to Switzerland (although it would be more difficult not being part of the EU). ;)

Oh, Andem, I'm not really an adventurer.

I'll admit that having lived in different countries has immensely enriched me as a person, and, yes, there's a thrill in learning about new cultures, mastering a new language and customs to the point that you become "one of them", but that's the romantic side of it.

Practically, it also means endless appointments with different governmental offices until all your "papers" are just right, taking driving test all over again, passing a job interview in a language in which you're not quite comfortable yet...but I shouldn't be talking about that since the whole topic is hypothetical.

That would be great, I'll show you around.

And you'll do the same for me when I'll need to come to CH to access all my accounts, lol.

If I was forced to leave Canada (at gunpoint), I would move permanently to either Australia or New Zealand. Both are similar to Canada in government and lifestyle. I would prefer NZ, however it is very small compared to the vastness of this great country.

However, before I settle down in Brisbane or Auckland, I'd live in Europe temporarily, most likely one of the Scandinavian countries or the Czech Republic. All have great food and good hockey! :)

I chose Asia on the poll because the South Pacific was left out. I would move to New Zealand's South Island in a shot if I didn't have so many relatives here.
