Hi … I have something that trouble me here … I have purchased a 19” LCD Monitor from ViewSonic which was fine for the first 3 months now I am having nothing but problems with it , Okay but what trouble me is there warranty policy , have a look at this , this is from ViewSonic

ViewSonic LCD display models VA520, VA521, VA550, VA700, VA720, VA721, VX710, VA800, and VX910 purchased on or after April 1, 2003, are warranted for one (1) year for parts, labor and LCD back light. US only, (3) years outside of US. ViewSonic LCD color display products purchased prior to June 1, 1999, are warranted for three (3) years for parts and labor, one (1) year for LCD back light. ViewSonic LCD color display products purchased on or after June 1, 1999, are warranted for three (3) years for parts, labor and LCD back light, excludes NextVision® LCD products, which are warranted for one (1) year for parts, labor and LCD back light.

Now I read someone else having problems with their LCD monitor from ViewSonic and infact this person mention that ViewSonic is trying to sell defective Monitors to the Canadians and what not , He goes to mention that ViewSonic is more concern about the cooperate companies in the USA ( where the big cash is ) … More or less he saying whenever ViewSonic gets a repair unit from there cooperate latter that ViewSonic will repair the unit and resell these units as new to countries like Canada and what not … Now I did found it to be strange that ViewSonic would give more warranty to the other countries , like Canada … What would you think the reason would be as to why ViewSonic don’t give the same warranty to there own country ???

Maybe the warrantly thing has to do with certain laws, which they can or can't get away with in the United States? They could have run into problem in some countries by only offering a 1 year warranty so they just made it company policy to generalize the warranties policy and make everywhere else 3 years.. There's probably a number of different reasons.

The best thing I can suggest is bring it back to the point of purchase and DEMAND an exchange for something of equal value. You shouldn't have to suffer because YOUR local computer store carries defective products.

A lot of discount retailers sell factory re-packs. They are returned or defective items that have been repaired to "as new" condition and repacked. I've never heard of these things being shipped to a specific market though

Dayteks are ones you should watch out for. I don't even know if they still sell those things, but I had one that blew up. I had two other friends who had dayteks that blew up too.

Never used Viewsonic, but I'd stay away from refurbished units.
