NATO and UN recognizes work being done in Afghanistan. They are committed to improvement of Afghanistan and there are actually coalition forces working in Afghanistan for the better of Afghanis.
There are significant improvement in stability of its government and currently, Al-Ma Kazawi (am I right?), seems to travel all around the world for support to help rebuild Afghanistan (Canada included since I saw his interview with CBC news).
It all seems good to me but is it possible to achieve, not victory, but stability?
Lately, there are signs of Taliban regaining its positions in some parts of Afghanistan. NATO forces can't "crush" them because its being supported by secretive organization all over middle east just like in Iraq. They are also being "sheltered" between the borders of Afghanistan and Pakistan. One of the NATO commander (which are being replaced constantly..I don't know why) demands more troops and that they are stretched too far apart. As a result, they may be losing "ground."
This is interesting because Afghanistan has been invaded twice and all those invasions have been "repelled" for some reason. Currently, we have about 50,000 troops stationed in Afghanistan (NATO forces). I don't know about British but Soviet Union had 4x as many troops we have in Afghanistan and yet still failed to occupy them completely.

My question is, can we bring stability in Afghanistan?
I know we must do it or lives of Canadians have been wasted.
This war was justified under U.N.
Even I justify this war because of Taliban's involvement with Osama Bin Laden and its aggression against U.S.
(One more question...Taliban attacked U.S...not Canada. Why are we in this again?)

There were canadians in the trade centers as well as many others from other countries, so, for
me, it was an international attack.

We are in Afghanistan for 'those canadians' as well as all of the others.

I sure wish for some success in afghanistan, it would mean a great deal to all, except the taliban.

I understand, that those in the middle east don't want the 'west' in their part of the world, but I can't understand why
they don't care about their afghan brothers, why would they wish those 'horrible taliban' on them.

There is such hypocrosy in the middle east, they talk the talk, pretending to care about each other, but don't walk the walk when help is needed.

I'm not sure, really.
Islam teaches, "make justice with sword" and I hope that its not justice being atheist or believing other faith. If so, they are in for a big..big trouble.
