Kden mentioned the west Edmonton mall in the Alberta forum.. but has anybody actually been to the new massive megamall in Vaughan, just north of Toronto?

God it's so big! I think I gotta go there sometime today to pickup something, but its massive!!!!!!

Looks nice, but doesn't even give you an idea of the enormous size!

Yeah,

They have pretty much everything. Designer Depot, Bass Pro, Winners/Homesense, The Sony Store and the food court is typical -- it sucks.

Uhmm, DOnt know where you should go by try google and look up their map on the home page.

I have a negative opinion on mega-malls. They encourage ugly sprawl - it's spreading North from Toronto like a fungus. God, I hate that.

I hate it too, snoproblem  The mall really is quite annoying.

But look on the bright side.. I've been there 3 times and the only busy day was the opening day. All other days have been DEAD -- especially compared to the Sawgrass Mills mall which is a similar concept/same company in Fort Lauderdale.

How can you even compare Vaughan Mills to West Edmonton? They are two entirely different malls. As for size...ever been to Square One in Mississauga? Or Yorkdale?

The only redeeming factor about Vaughan Mills is Bass Pro Shop. Now that's a cool store.

China will have the biggest malls in the world.

Why? Why do cultures insist on copying the worst parts of other societies?

I don't doubt that China will have the biggest malls. What I want to know is why they will aspire to that.

actually the biggest mall is being built in dubai, next to the tallest building in the world and the largest artifical lake. What a complete waste of resources when most of it is unneeded/unnnecessary

Coming back to the topic of the post, the Vaughn mills mall is a perfect example of surbaban sprawl, the whole are sorrounding it is housing or retail, catering mostly to the rich residents of woodbridge. Its practially dead most of the time and gets a bit of crowd during the xmas/back to school periods. I myself work in that area  but not for too long :D

An expensive sports equipment store with Sushi kiosk.
That describes the Vaughan Mall. May it die in peace.
Durgan.

Get your facts right Durgan

The Vaughn Mills Mall will have fifteen major anchor tenents, and over 200 specialty stores. Should be quite a mall.

I visited during the opening week and have no intention of ever going back. Fortunately, I had nothing to do that day and walked the walk. As boring as hell and as exciting as having a molar pulled, nothing even approaching West Edmonton. At least it is a pleasure walking through West Edmonton. Again may it die in peace.
