The loud protesters who chanted “there is only one solution, intifada revolution” — and even attempted to injure a federal cabinet minister — at Toronto’s Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) Saturday night must feel like they’re in charge. Maybe they are, now.

Just like that, there would be no gala dinner for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his Italian counterpart, Giorgia Meloni, inside the art gallery. Outside, cabinet minister Ahmed Hussen, who represents a Toronto riding, had something thrown at him twice by Pro-Hamas protesters as he unsuccessfully attempted to enter.

“Due to security concerns, the event was cancelled,” the Prime Minister’s Office told CBC News.
It was a gross scene unbecoming Canada and Toronto. Toronto Police have not made any arrests so far. But there needs to be some consequences.

Pro-Hamas demonstrators have been calling for a “shut down” of Canada for weeks, and Saturday night, they achieved it. They had more planned for Sunday at a York Region synagogue — organizers on social media even taunted police to “bring out the cavalry for this one.”

It’s all caught on video, and police have shown they do review those and lay charges later. Targeting anybody, let alone a cabinet minister, can’t be glossed over. It’s unacceptable. Police should consider laying charges on whoever organizes or pays these protesters, as well. Luckily, it wasn’t truckers who stopped Trudeau’s dinner with Italian Prime Minister Meloni.

Police, then, would have been given the nod to clear out the protesters with any means necessary to ensure everybody got into the AGO. Instead, a pro-Hamas throng of about only 100 strong were able to block every door, barring entry of cabinet ministers and invited guests.

Freedom Convoy protesters in Ottawa in 2022 never acted like this. The trucks from across the country blocked Wellington St. in front of Parliament Hill but didn’t impede anybody from getting anywhere by foot as we saw at the AGO.

Looks good on toronto. If the protestors had been a small fringe minority, turdOWE would have declared a national emergency.

A global network of Muslim thought leaders convened in Toronto on Sunday afternoon to discuss ways to combat antisemitism coming from within their community.

Over a hundred people packed into a midtown venue to hear speakers assembled by the non-profit Council of Muslims Against Antisemitism, including author Raheel Raza, political commentator Zuhdi Jasser, and an appearance by Conservative Member of Parliament Melissa Lantsman.

The group released a “Call to Action” featuring six planks, including a demand that Hamas release all hostages in Gaza, the Canadian defunding of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), as well as designating the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) a terrorist entity.

Ontario MPP Goldie Ghamari made a surprise visit and was given a rousing ovation from the crowd. Ghamari, an Iranian-Canadian, laid much of the blame for the October 7 attacks and subsequent displays of antisemitism seen across Muslim communities on the doorstep of the ayatollahs currently ruling Iran.
What would Amira Elghawaby say about this?

Well, that's a good thing. Highly unlikely to be a shining success, but better than discussing ways to advance and strengthen anti-Semitism.
I thought it was a feel good story. Uniting opposing viewpoints towards an actual middle ground. Long overdue and welcomed in my opinion, but controversial due to its nature of finding common ground.

After several consecutive incidents of anti-Israel mobs besieging Jewish sites and public events with minimal opposition, police in Toronto and Montreal are facing open accusations from senior politicians, business figures and Jewish groups that they’ve abandoned the streets to lawlessness.

“Depending on who you speak to, either we are unfairly targeting protestors or we are being too lenient. Neither is true,” Toronto Police spokeswoman Stephanie Sayer wrote in a statement to the National Post adding that officers are being overwhelmed by an unprecedented number of demonstrations and other protest actions.
She said the job of the police is to keep everyone safe while “also upholding the constitutionally protected right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.” Doing so “requires a delicate and thoughtful approach to navigating situations where multiple factors or interests need to be managed carefully.” Etc…Honk-Honk?

Saturday, a public talk in Toronto featuring Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and visiting Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was cancelled due to the venue’s entrances being blockaded by anti-Israel demonstrators. Minister of International Development Ahmed Hussen was even the target of projectiles as he approached the building under a police escort.

On Monday, Montreal’s Federation CJA building — a building hosting the Montreal Holocaust Museum — was besieged by anti-Israel demonstrators attempting to force the cancellation of a talk featuring visiting IDF soldiers.

Video circulated by the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs — one of the event’s organizers — showed demonstrators screaming “death to Israel, death to the Jews” in Arabic, as well as chants of “Allahu Akbar” (Arabic for “God is great”).

And just last night, attendees at a Liberal Party fundraiser in Downtown Toronto faced shoves and jeers by masked anti-Israel crowds barring the entrance.

A video taken by protest-watcher Caryma Sa’d shows an attendee asking police to clear a path through the crowd. “Can everyone just move to the side?” asks a Toronto Police officer. The crowd ignores him and enters into a chant of “shut it down.”

At least they’re keeping it peaceful. Glass half full.

Say no to rollerskating!
…or skating in general on this one…or snowboarding even…

Nobody can be indifferent to the suffering in the Gaza Strip amid the Israel-Hamas war, and Canadians have a right to protest and make their anger heard, he (Justin) said but Trudeau said he expects Canadians, including police, to act within the law and make sure everyone can feel safe.

"The protests become a problem when the target and location is intentionally set up to coincide with a religious affiliation," he (Liberal MP Ben Carr) said in an interview prior to Trudeau’s comments Tuesday.
The certified snowboard instructor (PM Justin Trudeau) from his Whistler days took to the hill for some fun with locals but found the war in Gaza followed him and even challenged him during one of his runs.

The video’s sound makes it difficult to hear what they were saying to him but sources say they were expressing frustration over Israel’s continuation of elimination of the terrorist Hamas militia in Gaza and calling for a ceasefire in light of an ongoing humanitarian crisis…not the elimination of Hamas? Allah forbid! But All Palestinians aren’t…etc…anyway…
Without his security detail appearing to be able to respond to this madness, Trudeau calmly handled the challenge by saying Canada is “sending” in aid and “getting” people out.

“I called for a ceasefire in December, and I’ll keep calling for a ceasefire,” said the prime minister, who quickly aimed his board south and slid off into the winter day, leaving the protesters on the hill with no comeback. As snowboarders say, it was a ‘slam, eat it’ moment. At 52, Trudeau looked like a snowboard dude teenager! These protesters in Thunder Bay didn’t have a chance. And the video shows that as Trudeau left them in the Pow Pow complete with a Face Shot.

It’s just a matter of time before someone is going to be hurt at one of these protests because tempers are flaring at them on all sides. Trudeau can help this himself by addressing it directly and suggesting that all protests about the war in Gaza be limited to the front of Parliament Hill, Queen’s Park or Toronto City Hall and not be intimating regular people, small business or places of worship, schools, comedy clubs or daycares.

(It’s lost on no one that never once during the 2022 Freedom Convoy, with its hot tubs and bouncy castles and Emergencies Act declaration, did a trucker ever try to get close to the prime minister or physically assault people trying to get into events or offices)

There’s plenty to legally protest Trudeau for but sneaking up on him on a ski hill and putting him at risk is not crunchy.

Snowboarding Lingo 101

  1. Pow—this is shorthand for snow powder.

  2. Ridin’/Cruisin’—Heading down the slopes.

  3. Shreddin’ the Gnar— Short for riding across the terrain.

  4. Steez—This simply means “style.”

  5. Crunchy—This translates to “cool.”

  6. Knarley—Interchangeable with awesome, sick, rad, etc.

  7. Hittin’—This entails going off anything where you could potentially perform a trick (a jump, rail, etc.)

  8. Booter or kicker—Just another way to refer to a jump.

  9. Stomp—When you go off a jump and land the trick, as in, “I just stomped [stuck] that landing.”

  10. Bail—This is when you don’t land the trick.

  11. Yard Sale—A really rad “wipe out,” wherein some or all of your equipment is lost. Hat, snow goggles, board, etc. may be dispersed on the slope. Failing with style.

  12. Taco—A fall/wipe out that results in your body getting draped over a box or rail in a fashion that’s reminiscent of a taco shape.

  13. Chatter—When your snowboard jitters and shakes as a result of the terrain.

  14. Gaper—A wannabe that’s new to the mountain that gazes, slack-jawed, at the terrain or at really routine tricks. Someone that’s out of their element.

  15. Woolly—The awesome mascot of Mammoth Mountain here in CA.

BC Premier David Eby has rejected calls for an independent investigation into antisemitism within the B.C. NDP caucus and the B.C. public service after allegations made by former cabinet minister Selina Robinson.

Robinson made the bombshell accusations Wednesday in a letter to her NDP colleagues, detailing statements and actions made by NDP MLAs she said were antisemitic and influenced her decision to leave the party and sit as an Independent.

Eby did not commit to launching a wider investigation, simply saying he will “reflect” on the issues raised by Robinson.

The vast majority of NDP faithful are Jew haters. Certainly in the public sector unions.

Liberal and NDP politicians have lectured Canadians for years that white supremacy and neo-Nazism don’t happen in a vacuum – that they are fuelled by hate-filled, right-wing political rhetoric which they constantly condemn.

But most have gone silent since Oct. 7 about the hate-filled, left-wing political rhetoric on university campuses that provides the intellectual justification for Hamas-loving protesters to target Jewish neighbourhoods in what they call “Zionist-infested” areas.

Trudeau said last week he’s heard from many Jews that they feel intimidated by protests targeting them and that while everyone is upset about the “horrible things we are seeing” in Gaza, “hateful or harassing behaviour, particularly against neighbours, is not what we do here in Canada.”

These protesters are targeting Jews – they always have an excuse for targeting Jews – blaming them for the actions of the Israeli military in Gaza, which is classic Jew hatred, to say nothing of the fact many Jews in Canada oppose the military policies of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Gaza, which have led to the death of tens of thousands of Palestinians.

But in Canada today, even arguing in favour of a ceasefire, contingent on Hamas releasing the surviving hostages from the 253 it kidnapped during its terrorist attack on Israel on Oct. 7 – when it also raped, tortured and murdered 1,200 innocent people – is apt to get you labelled a genocide enabler and baby-killer by the “pro-Palestinian” crowd.
