There seems to be a lot of brow-beating, labelling and name calling on this board, for example

No, but he hates Canada so much that he moved to Florida and he wants to come to a Canadian board and tell us how stupid we are.

I'm more than happy to be civil and stick to the issues. But don't be surprised when someone stands up and hits back over garbage like this.

Who cares about Tommy Douglas? The Supreme Court of Canada rocks! Finally somebody came out and said what true conservatives have known for years: Canada's health care system is lipstick on a pig

You've shown no propensity for that at all, Toro. What you have shown a propensity for is being a shit-disturber who makes claims that he can't back up. Got any more top secret documents you'd like to share?

Apparently the Conservatives care about Tommy Douglas because they are trying to trade on his name. Or are you one of those who would claim that Harper and Day have suddenly become Liberals? Or do they have a hidden agenda? Or are they just lying to us again?

Of course you could be as bad as Toro here who tried to lay claim to Roy Romanow as well. Roy wrote the report on how to make our health care system work.

Roy the former NDP premier -- suggesting we pour more money into the system? Heh heh Who could've predicted THAT? A socialist throwing money at a problem -- uheard of.

Let's explore a hybrid private - public system like most of Europe. As Ralph Klein calls it "The Third Way" could improve health care in Alberta so that it will be better than the monopolistic system currently in existence. Now who isn'ti n favor of improvement? I'd say that crosses all party lines!

We've already got a hybrid system, Matty. We run about 70% public, 30% private. France is only 80/20. What Ralphie and his pals at the Fraser institute want is a privatized system...very much like the US system, but giving Ralphie's history of abusing poor people, likely even worse.

This is exactly what I mean. You go around provoking flame wars and then whine and cry when anyone hits back at your inflammatory rhetoric.

Read up on France, their system is structured entirely differently than ours so it's not useful information to say "80/20" or "70/30". Where are you getting your facts?
More importantly, when you say "80/20" or "70/30" are you referring to insurers or providers? Please clarify.
You don't know what Ralph Klein wants, you are surmising that from your side of the political fence. Can you please provide me with some concrete evidence as to what Ralph Klein wants?

From Globe and Mail some snippets:

The Alberta government is very pleased with this decision," Premier Ralph Klein said in a statement responding to the ruling that struck down a Quebec law prohibiting people from buying private insurance for medically necessary health services.

But Mr. Klein, who is pushing his "third way," a controversial plan to reshape medicare with a mix of government-financed and private, for-profit health services, said the court's decision "means Canadians have the right to timely access to health services.

Remember this? Before last Federal election.

Yea -- so what's your point? By the way, Klein's "Third Way" isn't so controversial here in Alberta. Maybe among the media. People hate change, even if it might be for the best. Back in the early '90's when Alberta led the country by cutting spending and balancing the books it was seen as "radical"...but soon after every other government in Canada, including the feds, followed suit and we are all better off for it. Same goes for health care. Let's open our minds, people. I am optimistic we can fix our horrid system.

He has said he wants more private health care. He supported the insane paper that Manning and Harris wrote for the Fraser Institute. The Fraser Insititute, a far-right think tank that Klein supports, has said that want to to away with "socialized medicine."
