The Honourable John McCallum, P.C., M.P., the Member for Markham—Unionville and the Finance Critic for Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition, has stated that the budgetary policy introduced by the Government of Canada yesterday gives some people in Canada short-term satisfaction, to the deteriment of our long-term needs.

Mr. McCallum notes that Canada has been left with no effective environment program, with many climate change programs ended, the abandoning of the Kyoto Accord, a discriminatory Choice for Child Care program, and the termination of child care agreements that had been negotiated with the Provinces of Canada.

Liberal Party of Canada[/color]]"Canadians expect this new government not to fritter away or squander the riches it has inherited," Mr. McCallum concluded. "We Liberals who built that asset will be super vigilant to make sure that those now in government do not destroy it. Canadians cannot afford the long term pain of the return to traditional Conservative deficits, and traditional Conservative fiscal incompetence."

Hey Five, lets not forget that half of the free world is running for the Liberal leadership. They all have to scream louder than the next to get noticed. McCallum barely opened his mouth while he was Finance Minister and everyone had the combination to his vault.

Perhaps you are thinking of the wrong member? Mr. McCallum has never served as the Minister of Finance.

He was Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance. Close enough.

Ha ha. But Five, you know these guys are just playing petty politics for show. McCallum hasn't said three paragraphs in his entire adult life. A co-inky-dink that he has something to say now?

He made many speeches and answered many questions as the previous Minister of National Revenue, Kreskin. As for why he's saying so much now... he's the Finance Critic... and the Minister of Finance just released a budget... that sorta concerns him.

He should know better than to be promoting a bureacratic child care program. He spent his time in private business working to get rid of monsters like that.
