THE BOY WHOSE SKIN FELL OFF (premiere)
Thirty-six-year-old Jonny Kennedy was a remarkable character. He suffered from a rare skin condition called Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) that covered his body in sores, and never allowed him to grow into an adult-sized person. When Kennedy was told he only had a few months left to live, he set out to make the most of the time he had left. He decided to work with filmmaker Patrick Collerton to document his last months (he died during the making of the film) in an uplifting, confounding and provocatively humorous story of a unique individual.

THE NATURE OF THINGS
(Thursday October 14 at 7pm on CBC-TV)
SHIPBREAKERS (premiere)
On a remote stretch of beach on the Arabian Sea exists a place where aged great ships of the world are turned into smoldering scrap metal and toxic waste. Here, blood, sweat and steel collide on a daily basis. The ships' death is certain - more than 7,000 vessels have met their fate in the Indian industrial community of Alang. Almost as certain is the fate of many workers. Though the gateway greeting at Alang announces "Safety is our Motto." The workers have their own slogan: A ship a day, a death a day. One worker a day, on average, dies on the job, evaporated in explosions, crushed by falling steel, cut in half by cables or broken up from falls. Of the remainder, one in four will contract cancers caused by asbestos, PCBs and other toxic substances. It is progress, the "new economy" at work.

A WORD ABOUT OUR SCHEDULES...
We try to be as accurate as possible with our newsletter but we often
cannot reflect last minutes changes in programming on CBC Newsworld
and CBC-TV.

We also cannot reflect LOCAL changes in programming. Not
all local CBC affiliates offer all CBC programming. Please check with
your local cable providers for this information.

All CBC Newsworld air times are listed in ET (Eastern Standard), which means that the
air times must be adjusted for other regions. All CBC-TV programs air at consistent times across the country (with the exception of
Newfoundland which is delayed by a half hour).
