I would just like to say what a nice experience it is to have politicals views posted the way they are here. At first I thought maybe you all might be on Valium I say this because my only other experience with this type of forum was with the CBC.

I joined their forums thinking well this will be educational and I will meet fellow canadians and interact with stimulating conversations. The conversations were not stimulating they were distrubing. There was so much hate and mean spirited people on those forums they are now shut down. I only lasted a few weeks, I lasted that long because it was like looking at a car wreck, you don't want to look but something draws you to look anyway.

People were threatened, racism was everywhere, there were gangs of like minded posters who roamed the boards looking for people to pick fights with. No matter what the thread topic was they would appear and ruin it. I sure hope they never find out about this fourm. Anyway just wanted you all to know how nice it is to hear politics discussed this way, it really gets someone thinking and taking these issues more seriously.

Exactly why I, too, am enjoying this forum so much. There is a really great group of people here, I feel very fortunate for being here.

Haggis I just have to ask, with a name like haggis are you scottish. My grandfather was a Fraser from inverness.

Yeah those CBC boards were really something. I've been to a couple other places with similar activity, but it seemed fairly organised there.

These forums are like the secret mountain valley kingdom of Shangrila. Frankly, even though our hosts want us to spread the word and invite others to join in, I can't think of anyone I'd tell about it. We are fortunate, indeed, to have landed in this place.

I can't remember how I came to be here. I think it turned up in a Google search. I'm trying to remember what my keywords were, and what I was researching. A topic here matched my criteria.

Sometimes you get lucky.

I do concur-- the posts can get pretty heated-- which is to be expected, given the nature of opinions-- but overall, there isn't the visceral vitriol you find elsewhere.

This is, overall, a pretty good board. Damn good, actually.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I am also glad to have stumbled upon this site.

I was escaping from two other forums. One that had morphed into a place where everyone got so offended so easily that you couldn't post anything more controversial than the weather or you were sure to upset someones sensitivities.

The other was being monopolized by one poster who insisted on turning every single post into a political statement. A post about fireworks would somehow turn into a social commentary on the Cambpell government. Also, he never had any thoughts of his own, always cutting and pasting other peoples ideas. It was a horrible place to be. That forum is going the way of the dinosaur and I'm glad to see it.

It is a great forum and I am glad to be here with all of the members. Very nice people. I do agree with Researchok that it gets heated at times but that is expected. Otherwise it gets to be boring if everyone agrees with the other. I hope it stays like this with different opinions and intelligent discussions.
