So what would make you leftists happy? Maybe America should bring its military home, defend only its shores and stay completely out of world affairs. Would that make you happy?

I've been following some of your posts and it has made me wonder why someone with such strong right-wing beliefs would bother to spend their time here. It's been my observation that the majority of people who frequent this board are here for an honest exchange of views and a little entertainment. I have felt no underlying agenda to convert or sway people to a single minded political stance here. Granted, most of the people seem to be fairly liberal thinking but there are dissenting views that get discussed in a good natured, rational manner in this forum.

I've seen your straw-man rhetorical technique ... you present only a portion of the opponent's arguments (often a weak one), refute it, and pretend that all of their arguments have been refuted. I've seen you demonstrate a philosophy of moral absolutism that denigrates many of the views posted here. I've observed you being angry about these dissenting viewpoints and it makes me wonder why you would frequent a forum that seems to upset you so much.

I love a good debate and have enjoyed some very thought provoking conversations here. In the end, though, I never feel as though people are trying to change who I am or how I think, nor am I judged for my opinions.

Referring to posters as "you leftists" clearly indicates you have set yourself apart from most of the people here. I think you are intelligent and have obviously spent time researching and thinking about these issues, but my questions is why is it so important for you to turn it into some kind of war of words?

Your quote ... "Molon Labe" (“Come and get them!”) seems a bit confrontational and makes me think you may be just spoiling for a fight. Fighting for the sake of fighting doesn't seem rational to me.

Just my opinion here. :) We're all entitled.

Well, I do think countries may interfere (criticize) with internal affairs of others. If we would all move back into an isolation, I don't think it will improve the world. With that, I do not mean only the US moving back into an isolation, but every country in this world. What if a civil war goes on in a certain country? Should we just look the other way and say "it's not our business" - something which the US has been accused of doing, like in Pakistan or Central Asia. How far should this non-interference be taken moghrabi?

And Paco: you say "the Left" does not know what is going on in the world. Maybe "the Right" sees more things than there are actually going on - like WMD in Iraq, eh?

Most if not all civil wars or wars against humanity are caused by the super powers to give them enough reason to go in and do their little dirty things. Just go back to every civil war or any battle and analyze what was the real cause of it. Do not look at religion or color or wealth. See what this or that country have that the superpower wants. I bet you you will find the truth.

As for the right seeing too much; well the right see what they want to see and what is there to see.

Well with interference I'm not only referring to this kind of interference. I also mean it as criticising a country's human rights situation for example.
