The Universe vs. a Coke bottle...

You're walking in the forest and find a bottle of Coke... You know with almost absolute certainty that a human being has passed around this place because you know bottles of Coke just don't grow out of the ground just like that...

The Coke bottle is a sign of 'intelligent life'... It was designed by relatively intelligent beings who had a specific purpose...

You are looking at a picture taken by the Hubble telescope... You are looking at a galaxy... You wonder if there is some form of intelligence behind the existence of this galaxy...

Don't you think it's weird that the Coke bottle is a sure sign of intelligence while the galaxy isn't?

The galaxy to me is a 'question mark', but not a sign of intelligence. It is a natural
setting, which is allround us, and someday we will understand it, and by then I will
be just a bit of dust in the wind, and many thousands of years will have passed.:-?

That's because for most of us it's easier to think in terms of Coke bottles, rather than in terms of galaxies.
