Aware of self-knowledge I understand that the thoughts I experience, thinking,
knowing, believing, etc, is a process taking place in the brain, in myself.
Otherwise I am continually trying to figure things out, and to solve my life's
problems, my dilemma, with thought. This is what mostly all people talk about
and discuss, and the intellectual makes an art of it. The fiction writer in
stories, in books, TV soaps, movies, etc, makes it appear as though there is a
real need to communicate these thoughts. There is a culture of communicating
and exploiting personal points of view, and self-knowledge is rarely explored.
The person gains an understanding of some interest, some topic, some theory, and
is happy to believe that's enough. They can discuss it, but it is all in the
mind. It is not a whole integration of the immediate experience.
This manner of speaking where I am using words to express myself I rely on the
words, on knowledge, and so in effect I am working through the unessential
knowledge. I don't know if this is clear. I suspect the habit of knowledge
persists and it is not clear to the reader. Perhaps I can say it differently.
The brain is busy, occupied in thought, and it is a habit to think thought is
essential. In fact thought thinks it is essential. I explain what is there in
the seeing, watching, listening, and so I think thought is necessary for seeing,
watching, listening. This is true when explaining, for communication. In fact
it is obvious seeing, watching, listening, the experience is immediate, and
explaining, communication, is secondary, and unessential to the experience.
This obvious fact is not well understood. You may even wonder why make the
point. Why make it clear thought is unessential to seeing, watching, listening?
It is because thought is running a program to achieve a better performance and
this is what people follow in an effort to solve their problems. To talk about
this, the predominance of thought imposes itself and I can not escape the self
conception of thought. Whereas when people see themselves basically in the world
experiencing light, color, sound, movement, without effort, they see there is
no achievement, no goal, to pursue, and they see the imposition of thought.
Then thought is not a program, and the mind is not caught in a conclusion, it is
