Scientists have discovered a new species of fish in the deepest depths of the ocean, and it comes complete with translucent skin and string-like appendages.
According to New Scientist, University of Hawaii scientists found the fish during an expedition to the Mariana Trench in the Pacific Ocean, the deepest place on the planet.
Identified as a new species of snailfish, the ghostly-looking creature is white with a long, translucent, flowing tail fin and multiple appendages.
It lives 8,143 metres below the surface.
New Scientist dubbed it "the sea ghost."
