I looked the film up in Wikipedia. Apparently it is regarded as one of the great film classics. I can certainly see why the Nazis would want it banned.

We had a thread about war movies a long time ago on this forum and remember mentioning it back then. This is a genuine classic and definitely one of the greatest movies of all time.
