The Privileged Bodies have affirmed their allegiance to the new monarch
The Privileged Bodies are a group of 27 organisations that have historically been allowed to personally address the British monarch, and King Charles III has received the Privileged Bodies at Buckingham Palace in order for them to affirm their allegiance to him in a ceremony which dates back to the 17th Century.
The loyal addresses – in the form of a short speech – came from the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, who will Crown the King during the Coronation; London Mayor Sadiq Kahn; and Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey.
