And now, it comes down to the money...........

“To force Erick Muñoz into bankruptcy over an act that was clearly inappropriate and wrong and should have never happened is completely and totally unfair,” his attorney told Panicker last month.

John Peter Smith Hospital said Friday it has not yet determined who will pay for Marlise Muñoz’s two-month stay that ended with a judge’s order to remove her from life support.

Earlier this morning, WFAA’s Jobin Panicker tweeted that Erick Muñoz would “not be billed” for the 62 days his wife Marlise was kept on life support at John Peter Smith Hospital. Shortly after that, the hospital issued a brief statement intended to correct, or at least clarify, that assertion.

“JPS Health Network is following its standard process for identifying reimbursement in the Marlise Muñoz case, as it would in any patient case,” said the statement from Jill “J.R.” Labbe, its vice president of communications and community affairs. “We are working through Erick Muñoz’s insurance company.”

When asked to further clarify the clarification, Labbe told The Dallas Morning News that JPS is “pursuing our normal process in identifying payers and reimbursement.” She added that “there is insurance here, and we’re working through the Muñozes’ insurance company.”

Marlise Muñoz, a paramedic, collapsed November 26 at her Haltom City home, most likely because of a pulmonary embolism. She was 14 weeks pregnant, and the hospital refused to remove her from life support despite her husband’s wishes — and, eventually, his claim in a lawsuit that she was in fact brain dead. The hospital said that because the child had a heartbeat, it was legally bound to keep Marlise alive. In late January State District Judge R.H. Wallace ruled that the hospital had misinterpreted state law and ordered her removed from life support. JPS ultimately relented.

Since then there has been a question about who would cover her medical bills: Marlise’s husband, the couple’s insurance company, the publicly owned and taxpayer-funded hospital or even the state of Texas (as suggested by a Daily Kos petition virtually signed by 53,365).

Ahem- She is brain dead- Kinda hard for her to think, much like yourself.
No disrespect intended to the poor lady who lost her life.

Unlike you and some of your mates, I read the article carefully.

This is what part of its says:

The couple are both paramedics and have made it known to each other that they do not wish to be kept on life support, Erick said.

I'll say again just in case you haven't noticed: this woman was PREGNANT. That means she was carrying a human being - and I'm assuming, a perfectly healthy one - inside her.

Turning off this woman's life support machine whilst pregnant is nothing short of sickening. It doesn't surprise me, though, that the abortion supporting leftards see no problem with it.

Have you had an I.Q. test lately? You should probably have one annually, in case you need life support!

Though doctors had pronounced her brain dead and her family had said she did not want to have machines keep her body alive, officials at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth had said state law required them to maintain life-sustaining treatment for a pregnant patient.

It's not me who needs an IQ test. I'm intelligent enough to be able to read.

If you had read carefully you would have noted a few things which slipped past you;

the couple were both paramedics....she had been dead for a while before being resuscitated.....now what do you think that would do to the fetus? Think hard. Dad knew exactly what that meant.

Apparently you have little medical knowledge to assume anything.

The hospital did not say they left her on life support because it would eventually produce a healthy viable baby. They left the mother who was brain dead on life support against her will BECAUSE....she was pregnant and the law said they had to. Period.

Now who pays for this?

People such as yourself should pay for this. You all should sign up to pay for this. It should come directly from the pockets of the ignorant, misinformed individuals who support such stupidity due to their ignorance of medical procedure and viability of life.

The word pregnant shuts down your ability to think rationally.

A travesty of life was committed here....a travesty.
