Scientists have discovered that the Altar Stone of Stonehenge came from Scotland and not Wales as previously thought.

Several of the ancient monument's stones came from South Wales but not, as it was thought, the Altar Stone. Instead it came from way up in north east Scotland.

This showed that the building of Stonehenge - the purpose of which is still a mystery - was a fat greater collaborative effort than previously believed.

If it isn't Scottish, it's crap!

My mum is Scottish. So I'm half-Scottish. I say that but she was born in West Germany in 1958 to Scottish parents as her father was an officer in the British Army and her and her two brothers and parents ended up living throughout the Empire (my dad often likes to say that I'm actually half-German).

My mum's older brother - my Uncle Alan - took his first steps within Stonehenge. He was the only one of my maternal grandparents' children who was born in Scotland (my Uncle Stephen was born in Chiswick in London). My grandparents were visiting Stonehenge with my uncle Alan in the late 50s (I don't know if my mum was born then) and my Uncle Alan - who was a toddler - literally walked for the first time within the circle of Stonehenge. How cool is that? My eldest uncle took his first steps within Stonehenge.

My Uncle Alan is now on Facebook but he uses a pseudonym for some reason. A couple of years ago he sent me a Friend Request and I had no idea who it was. I accepted it but then asked him "Why are you sending me a Friend Request?" And he replied "I sent you a Friend Request because I'm your uncle."
