Gee whiz, such a surprise. ;) But I bet George Takei is not the only one who's been hiding in the closets of the Enterprise!

It may not be big news, but at least it's good news ... I'm always glad when someone famous comes out. Helps make the world a safer place for those who still live in fear of the hate mongerers.

I always figured that Sulu and Chekov were more than just friends. Now if somebody will explain why McCoy and Spock bickered like an old married couple....

I'll bet William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy are turning in their graves now. Hey, wait-a-minute ... they need to be dead first.

Well if they were dead, then they'd be turning in their graves.

didn't Star trek have the first TV inter-racial kiss? I believe Roddenberry once promised openly gay characters, but died before it happened. I don't watch the show, but as far as I know we're still waiting.

They did have the first inter-racial kiss. I'm not sure about the openly gay characters, but it would fit with Roddenberry's general outlook.

Showcase will probably start running the original Star Trek between Queer Eye and The "L" Word, so it's more likely that Shatner and Nimoy will be turning over in their gravy.

Well considering that the Federation was an entirely socialist form of government, that would make the Romulans and Klingons more akin to the neocons, I'm thinking...

You know their are probabley a lot more "famous People" wanting to come out "of the closet" so to speak, but do to being stigmatized they do not. But I think things are getting better.

I also see Sheryl Swoopes a star player (if not the biggest) in the WNBA came out, the other day, so maybe times are changing in America, for the better, albeit slowly.

Swoopes could open door for others to follow

I really do not understand it when someone that is famous comes out it is front page news. Whats the big deal really? Only narrow minded people would let this bother them, and really whose business is it if you are straight, Bisexual or homosexual?

I think the ones who act all shocked and horrified are the people who are very insecure with themselves.
