I just could not write the official phony name!
This is not against any particular Party. These problems have existed for half a century.
All events happened as mentioned, no exaggeration, no modification, however conclusions and deductions are my own; make your own conclusions and deductions if you like. Always remember that; sometimes reality is stranger than fiction.

For a while I wanted to express my opinion about a law, but I did not. Finally, Ontario NDP announced that they will look into that issue when they are elected. Some people might say ‘I am not a renter it does not affect me’… KEEP READING. For rent controlled buildings; the rent increase is given on yearly basis. Most owners and renters abide by that. However there is a ‘loophole’ that says when a renter moves out the owner can raise the rent at will instead of the yearly allowable increase. Let me explain why I see it as a horrible issue as it is. Rent should not be affected by WHO or how long the renter lived in that particular unit. Similar scam did exist in employment Laws. During ‘good old’ employment laws you could find an older employee with good long experience who has no seniority. Frequent unnecessary lay offs without any severance and harassment resignations prevented them from building seniority. The Government smartened up (more likely forced to) and changed employment laws but did not catch up in renting. People move out for different reasons such as new job, economic change up or down and in a large number due to owner’s harassment (relentless & continuous) to increase the rent. When some one loses their job they are faced with 2 options. 1- Move to where jobs are available and lose the rent advantage. 2- Stay unemployed to keep the rent advantage. Meaning they may need government assistance (your taxes). That law, indirectly, punishes hard working people who will go wherever there is work. I still can not wrap my mind around that scam. There is no explanation for it other than racism. I know that some might give a ridiculous explanation that is similar to the one that was used for employment. As a result of this law, some vacant units in some buildings are ‘assigned’ and rented to certain people (guess who). These new renters are forced to move out shortly to increase the rent again and again. Tenants of these units pay more rent than other similar units in the same building. In addition, these units get less (zero) maintenance than the rest! Renters should not pay for the bigotry of some people. Personally I believe this law should be a high priority concern to all parties to be true to what they claim. It is a blunt outrageous Systemic Racism. This law should never have existed.

These are just symptoms of a problem.
