If Signaporeans cannot criticize their government, then how can they have elections, a Parliament, and opposition parties sitting in Parliament?

In Canada, question period is like a clown show.

And it isn’t even a good clown show. The UK parliament is much more witty and entertaining than ours.

A brilliant argument for capital punishment. I'm not saying that wrongful convictions can't occur; but the video shows how the deterrent effect make having it in the books worthwhile.

Until we have a perfect justice system which can guarantee that no innocent person will receive a death sentence I disagree. I’d rather keep the, all locked up rather than risk killing a single innocent person along with many guilty people. The price of a mistake is too high. If such a thing were to happen the blood would be on our hands as it will have been done in our name.

Also, Singapore executes people who have not committed violent acts. Murder I can understand but drug possession or trafficking? I’d consider that a disproportionate punishment for non violent crimes.

Singapore is a Muslim nation that has been electing many moderate political leaders who are aware of that nations situation with other larger more powerful nations. They do have a very active port and also a busy ship building industry. Their shipyards are used frequently by Navies of other nations who Naval vessels are in need of repair. So that business is evidently highly respected. When I fly abroad if I can get a ride on Singapore Airways It ids my first choice.

Singapore is officially secular with a sizable Muslim population. I'm not even sure if Muslims make up the majority but I doubt it. Either way though, Islam has no official status.
