With accompanying light show, HMS Active, the second of the Type 31 frigates to be built for the Royal Navy, emerged from the Venturer building at Babcock’s shipyard in Rosyth, Fife.

On the same day, first steel was cut for the fourth Type 31, HMS Bulldog.
