SJ007:

Hotel Rawanda was a great movie.

Some felt Nick Nolte's depiction of the UN Commander was an insult to D'Allaire. I don't see that, as Nolte seemed to play a man doing all he could, with no outside support. Seems like truth to me.

"Shake Hands with the Devil" by D'Allaire is a great book, as well.

Noltes character was not really based on D'Allaire. The story was more focused on the Hotel Milles Collines and the events around that, not the bigger picture. Good movie nonetheless, and good book from D'Allaire. Heartbreaking@!

The best book I've read on the genocide in Rwanda is: We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will be Killed With Our Families: Stories from Rwanda by Philip Gourevitch, though Dallaire's book is a close second.
Gourevitch's book comes as close as possible to capturing the human, emotional elements of the horror. I found it almost poetic.
