news - Victims at Bhopal were beaten this week for asking about the clean water they were promised.
This link has a form letter you can send to India's goverment:

...and you can read the whole article there too.
A good example of corporate irresponsibility is Bhopal. {in 1984, chemicals were accidentally spewed over the slums around the Union Carbide plant in India]
Lots of profits for the corporations involved since the incident , while the victims suffer horribly.
from the link:
8000 deaths immediately
20,000 more deaths soon after
150,000 suffer significant health effects still
Union Carbide KNEW there was a leak, and it just got bigger until it spewed. I would call that an act of corporate terrorism... not doing required maintenance on deadly gas plants is criminal in any case.
The real point is that it is ONGOING.
There is much that could be done for the victims - they have not yet been given CLEAN WATER and are still drinking the water that was polluted from the incident!! [1984]
So they walked over to the administration building and asked for clean water, as promised long ago.
They were BEATEN and dragged away!! {insult and injury...
Union Carbide, now Dow chemical, argue that they are not responsible for the [ongoing] contamination. The site has yet to be cleaned up. They made a profit on the sale of the company when it went to Dow. Some compensation money has been paid, but is held up in the courts as the victims languish.
Sorry if it seems like old news, but I think it is good to bring this up once in awhile. Its not like the victims have all been taken care of yet...
