Quiche declares official dish of the Coronation

If you’re having a get-together or helping plan a street party for the King's coronation, you might want to put quiche on the menu.

It was hand-picked by King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla to be the official party food for the coronation next month.

The recipe includes spinach, broad beans, cheese and tarragon. The quiche can be eaten hot or cold.

By the way, Camilla is currently titled Queen Consort. Upon being crowned two and and half weeks from now, she will henceforth be titled Queen.

The Coronation is two weeks this Saturday.

How to make Coronation Quiche

Just like the for the previous monarch's coronation in 1953, a new dish has been invented to mark the occasion


The King and Queen Consort have personally chosen a recipe for "Coronation Quiche" in celebration of the Big Lunches set to be staged to mark their coronation.

Charles and Camilla shared the recipe for the open baked savoury tart, which features spinach, broad beans and tarragon, which was featured in a video on the royal family’s official Twitter account.

For the late Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953, Coronation Chicken - cold chicken in a curry cream sauce with a well-seasoned dressed salad of rice, green peas and mixed herbs - was invented to feed the foreign guests who were entertained at Buckingham Palace after the ceremony.

A Palace chef, dressed in a white uniform embroidered with the late Queen’s EIIR cypher and a chef’s hat, was shown making the quiche in a video posted on social media.
