Oh and was she born dreaming of being a prostitute tibear?? I think not. And please tibear the life she lead as a prostitute is not the life 99 percent of them live. Go and to some vounteer work in the real world.

I agree peapod (in fact, I'm surprisedanyone in their right mind could disagree). I've been to Amsterdam, which is renowned for it's liberal attitude on this subject (Rick /JDream can tell us more), and I've seen it's famous red light district and the girls in windows there. Yes, prostitution exists, so the Dutch deserve praise for being open about it, and at least improving the lot of prostitutes in terms of lessening exposure to drugs, violence and disease. However, at the end of the day even there it's still about the violation, degradation and exploitation of women, by men, for men - clearly it's men who make the real profits from pornography and prostitution. Prostitution only encourages a depraved attitude towards women as sex objects, and generally isn't in the interest of either the woman or society as a whole. (Those who can't get any should have a cold shower, and a long, hard think).
True Henry. What is misunderstood by many is that the Dutch policies of "accepting" prostitution is not because we all think prostitution is a good job for a woman, but because our policy makers understand that prostitution will always exist, whether you like it or not, so why not make the best out of it? Many brothels are member of the "Rode Draad", a labor union for prostitutes. It grants them certain protections etc., to protect them from abuse etc. I know many Conservatives do not agree with it, but I just feel this is the best way to do, as - as I already stated - prostitution will always be there, and in that case, you can better control it than oppose it (which doesn't work really).

Legalize it so it can be regulated ie. medical tests, safe place to "conduct business" collect gst for government.

Unfortunatly Prostitution is never going to go away and the unfortunate souls that have to resort to doing it should be able to do it in a safe enviroment.
