Well its great to see Tiger back into winning mode. It just seems wrong when he is not in the final paring on Sundays, or ugg, when he missed a cut
Everybody, almost, seems to benefit when Tiger is winning - TV ratings go way up, and his marketting gig [Pontiac etc] does better too. Perhaps not his opponents, unless they are just content to place 2nd and call it a victory over the rest of the field.

I gotta say that Michelson's most recent collapse isn't making me sad. "Fatty Michelson" just seems to have an attitude I can't enjoy. Today he is +17 or so on day one. He will miss this cut, I don't feel sad about that at all.

Mike Wier is the one I watch most closely when he is on the leaderboard. He can get it done, it is great to see it when he does.

The only complaint I have is about the world's best loved drunk, John Daly. When he was on the Telus Skins match this week, the microphones were clearly picking up his chatter. Out on the fairway he tells Sergio "Well, I can beat you at DRINKING" , and then later on "I would be winning if I were DRUNK".
Ya ya John, we know you are battling that addiction to alcohol, and it has become your trademark, but nobody gets any "golf credits" for being sober when you are making millions playing golf... no boozer handicap in pro sports John... And its kind of insulting to his opponents when he suggest that "I can beat you when I am drunk".

But I do give him credit for being sober - any addiction is real tough and he isn't playing drunk. I hope.

Those guys are good, no doubt about that {well, maybe Fatty ain't so great as HE would like to think he is].

Tiger is amazing. That kid has been a star since day one. Last Sunday's tournament was great to watch. You can see how hard he concentrates on his stroke and if he misses it, you can see the tension. You know he's thinking "What would Dad say?" Got to give him his due, he's a great player.

Do they do steroid testing in golf? Tiger is now the size of an NFL linebacker. I have to admit voting for him. His intensity and skills are great to watch.

It's nice to see a young man grow up in a sport. He not only is gifted he's intellegent and has family values. It's very rare.

update - was it wrenching to see Tiger go FOUR bogies in a ROW today [Saturday]
He came back to -8, one behind leader, but was down 4 there for awhile.

I think Tiger will win, but it shows how hard golf is when the best struggles to stay ahead like that.

As For Daly, addictions are tough. So is keeping quiet when you are bursting to shout it out how tough it is to be straight. I guess.

I'll be missing it all this weekend unfortunately. Keep me updated though if you don't mind. The papers don't do justice to eyes on telling from someone who's passionate about the sport.

I once watched Tiger bounce a golf ball on the back of his putter. He was bouncing the ball very quickly in front of him, and behind his back, and between his legs, with either hand. It was disgusting. How can anyone learn to do that stuff?.. :p

You got to remember he was a really small kid when he started and Hackey Sack was a big thing for kids. I would think he had to fit in some how and picked up the talent on the school yard.

The announcers called Tiger the ultimate golf predator. So true. Stewart Cink will have a few nightmares over his missed opportunities.

He played a great game too but Tiger's just better. It's like watching a good epic adventure.
