Is anyone farmiliar with the concept of Participatory Economics? Although it still very much in the conceptual stage, I found it to be rather intriguing. Yes I am aware that to impliment such a system on any meaningful level would require an unfathomable amount of planning, effort, modification, public interest, tweaking, remodelling, etc. etc. etc. But i dont think those are reasons to discount a unique and great idea.

Heres a link for info...

It's an interesting idea, Eagle...especially when you look at things like worker-run plants in Argentina helping to turn a bad situation around. Of course Argentina also had the guys that aboandoned the factories in the first place coming back and demanding ttheir property back, even after they'd stolen massive amounts of grant money and destroyed the economy there.

I don't think parecon can really be made into a full system because it is so complex and because so many vested interests with massive political power will work to shut it down.

I do think that elements of it can be introduced into our economy, but even that will be an uphill battle.

Participatory Economics: Wasn't his the type of economy Russia was immersed in for about 70 years before their collapse?

Don't mis-read the question. I haven't read much except the introductory definition, but will do so later.

Certainly untramelled capitalism leaves many in the gutter; in spite, of the fact that never in the history of man has so much been produced for so many.

I suspect this century will need a new approach to the type of capitalism now current. Thanks for the link.
