So, let's talk about the Science Center and Ontario Place. Libs and Dips are pissed about the Science center's closure (it was due to close in October anyway) and the development of Ontario Place.
Two years ago, plans were already approved to build a brand new $325 million Science Center at Ontario Place. This would actually relocate it from way the fuck out by the edge of town to the downtown area. So, the Science Center isn't going anywhere (well I guess it is actually) but it won't be a fucking 60 yr old building that's past its prime.
In 2012 the previous Liberal govt closed down Ontario Place except for a couple of music venues and some walking paths. Since then, the Ontario taxpayer has been paying for this essentially unused property for very little, if any return. Both a new Ontario Place and a new Science Center will help Toronto's downtown revitalization efforts. With the added bonus for T.O. that it's not going to cost them a dime to build and maintain it all. But now it should. Toronto got several billion dollars from the Ford govt on the condition that Chow wouldn't oppose the closure of the Science Center. Didn't take long for that commie bitch to backstab him once the City got the money. But that's the commie way, never honour an agreement, contract or treaty.
What's really stupid is now the City of Toronto is looking to see if there's some way they can take the S.C. over so they can keep it where it is. Because a City that's all horny about changing street and square names doesn't want to change the location of the S.C. and replace it with a new one even when it won't cost them a dime to do so and actually benefit T.O. more than where it is now. As an added bonus, (and I just thought of this) it would free up much needed land for housing in Toronto and add to the property tax base. And T.O.'s "rain" tax.
