Yep, nothing beats being on hold with 911. Has anyone ever had this experience? I couldn't believe it! On hold for at least 1 minute because all operators were busy. Crazy! Some high shoplifter in a fist fight with a security guard, throwing each other around in a pile of broken glass, and you can't get through to the police to get on the phone, let alone to show up, to do anything about it. I stood around once the officer and security guard subdued him (since I'm the one that phoned for the cops), but gave up and left after 15 mins.

Presumably, if 911 is that busy, the cops have more pressing issues than a tussle up at the grocery store but geez, it doesn't make a person feel very safe.

The phone would not have been answered no matter how serious it was. Maybe they should transfer the calls directly to the nearest cruiser. Them her could call whoever was needed.

Aw jenn, I'm sorry to hear that. I can't even imagine... how long it felt standing there waiting on hold for such a relatively small thing by comparison.

what good would that do if you needed an ambulance or a fire truck?

Well, I'm sure they are not put on hold when they call their dispatch.

After 3 rings they should have your location close enough to ring the cop(s) in the area.
