No, not really. The Soviet Union would have been completely fucked without all the aid coming from Britain, Canada and the US. That's what kept the Soviets in the war until they could get their shit together.

Red line: No deep strikes into Russia with weapons provided by nuclear powers, even though Russia feels free to use long range weapons from nuclear states to bomb Ukrainian civilians. The crap with the rewritten Ruzzian Constitution and Lavrov using the UN platform to threaten NATO was political theatre. They do it this kind of shit because they know there's a lot of gullible turds in the West who just eat Russian shit up like it was Corn Flakes. They've been doing it for decades. Every time they claimed they had some super-duper undefeatable weapon the Western wags ooohed and aaahed like impressed school children and the Soviet/Ruzzian claims always turned out to be nothing more than the mere bluster of a fake tough guy.

Nothing like present day Ukraine. First off Ukraine doesn't even have the manpower the Soviet Union had 82 years ago. Secondly, the Soviet Union was HUGE. They could easily withdraw all, or most of their manufacturing much farther east and out of range of the German military. A luxury Ukraine doesn't have.
Are they getting their shit together? I'd say it was together since day 1 of Ruzzia's invasion. Unlike Russian soldiers in the opening phase of Barbarossa, the Ukrainians didn't surrender in droves and in fact kicked the invaders asses pretty hard. As for the Soviets in WW2? They were receiving Western aid for the entirety of their war with Germany WHILE the West was also actively engaged in war on a global scale.
And as long as the war isn't in your backyard, you're happy to let evil run roughshod through other people's backyards.
