Old Navy tweet featuring interracial couple becomes target of racist rants

The bad side of social media was on display again late last week after clothing retailer Old Navy sent out a tweet promoting an online sale to its followers.
The photo of what appears to be a father holding his son while wrapping his arm around his girlfriend or wife was too much for some internet trolls, who began lambasting the retailer for what it called miscegenation.
At one point, Old Navy attempted to reach out to one poster by asking what it was about the post that “disappointed you?”
A user with the handle @mak_morn3 replied, “@OldNavy take a guess. Your clothes are crap quality and now you’re promoting misegenation. Disgusting!”
The tweets from @mak_morn3 have since been deleted. But that didn’t stop others from making their racist views known. And these were just some of the tamer posts.
But within minutes of being trolled, people also started coming to the defense of the retailer
Grace Mahary, the African American woman featured in the ad, sent out her own response on Instagram
