This is not new to me. I was raised on a farm in southern california and when the chickens all got off the ground it was the sign of an earthquake pending. They were never wrong. Our pigs knew when a rattle snake was in the area and would all go to the scne occupied by the rattler and attcak it. Our cats would come up into the house on days that the Santa Ana winds would blow and they'd alert us to smoke long before humans could smell it. Animals are very intuitive. Their senses are very keen compared to those humans have. I'll bet the staff of this hospital are learning to "read" the early warning system of the cat. It would be nice too if family/friends are contacted so they can be present when the ill patient passes. To be present when that happens is a special thing to me.
