Newcastle United are in the Intertoto Cup, which is probably the only Europe tournament that teams DON'T want to play in as it is a pre-season tournament when players would prefer to rest before the new season starts.

However, Newcastle are through to the next round, beating Norwegian team Lillestrom 3-0 in the Second Leg. They win 4-1 on aggregate after the First Leg finished 1-1. That means Newcastle are now into the qualifying stage for the UEFA Cup, a tournament that really matters.

Newcastle United celebrate scoring against Lillestrom and go through to the next round of the Intertoto Cup. They now have a chance of playing in the UEFA Cup.

Newcastle United booked their place in the qualifying stage of the UEFA Cup with a comfortable win over Lillestrom.

Having drawn 1-1 in the first leg at St James' Park, Glenn Roeder knew his side had to win to progress, and he will have been delighted to have seen his team put on a professional display to go through.

Englishman Shola Ameobi was the hero of the first half, sidefooting home the first goal on 29 minutes after home goalkeeper Otto Frederikson palmed out a powerful low drive from Charles N'Zogbia.

The striker then bundled home the second home from close range after a cross from the right from Scott Parker, and the Turk Emre wrapped up the game in the last game with a long range strike that gave the goalkeeper no chance.
