This is presicely the reason why I never bothered to learn any French despite being born and raised in Montreal.
Having my civil rights violated due to the French language just makes learning the language a huge turn-off for me. I have zero motivation to ever learn the language. Furthermore, most everyone in Montreal can speak English so there’s really no need to learn the language, particularly given the circumstances.
