I live in Ontario and have experience in construction, landscaping, and painting/renovations.

I'm an extremely hard working person and I want to relocate to alberta to make/bank some money. Rooming and such is a must before I ever get out there.

I'm looking to make a good amount of money at the same time being able to bank 90% of it.

With this is mind, how should I go about finding an employer that will set me up?

Keep your eye open for job fairs that may come to town. Usually held in hotel conference rooms. You may have to live in a larger town, say as big as London at least, maybe. Try look for an Albertan newspaper on the web. Google can find a lot of stuff. Some temp services such as Express Personell or Kelly's can find you work.

With your qualifications, finding work will be easy; banking 90% will be simple if you live in a cardboard box, out in the woods.

If you want a job in Alberta. You got one. Out here it is an employee's market. If you are willing to work in the oil rigs you can make huge money- easily over $100 000 a year (with overtime). And they pay for your lodging or you may have to sleep in a base camp.
There is no excuse to be unemployed here in Alberta.

Seems to me a well qualified construction person could expect to make between $50 and $60k annually, plus overtime. You want to put 90% of this away ... thinking ... so you want to save about $49k per year. That leaves you $6 - $10 k to live on for 12 months including food, utilities, transportation, accommodation and entertainment.

Impossible, even in Alberta. Do a budget, calculate your expenses, look at your salary and re-assess what you can realistically "bank". The first thing you need to do is look at the cost of living in Alberta ... even though we don't have those extra taxes, Alberta has a high quality of life and standard of living and that costs something - unless you go for that cardboard box idea.

Yup. Anyone that wants to bank 90% of their income needs to be a very good financial planner and should have a university degree ... that is still required by most to push the salary into the $200-300k range where 10% of the salary is okay to live on - without much of an entertainment budget.

Unfortunately, it's not very real for that type of work in Alberta. If you want to work the rigs, you can go to Fort McMurray, but the housing is very expensive, the hours dreadful, the work dangerous and lots of people fall into drugs and alcohol for entertainment - very expensive entertainment.
