NASA wants to send your name to Mars.
The space agency is offering people the chance to have their names printed on a dime-sized microchip that will be part of the new Orion spacecraft — the first ship designed to carry humans into deep space, to destinations such as the moon, asteroids, and one day Mars.
"NASA is pushing the boundaries of exploration and working hard to send people to Mars in the future," said Mark Geyer, Orion program manager. "When we set foot on the red planet, we'll be exploring for all of humanity. Flying these names will enable people to be part of our journey."
Signing up to put your name on the ship will get you a “boarding pass” you can print out and share on social media.
The Orion is set to launch on its first test flight into space Dec. 4.
