A Digital Voice Recorder

Digital voice recorders are much better than old tape recorders. About a week ago I finally bought one, for $50. It was Sony ICD PX-312. Frustrated by learning from the little booklet (which came with the device) I decided to write my own very short introduction. It has has just been posted at:

Interesting spam.

To the point, though - what do you use a voice recorder for? Most cell phones can record voice memos, isn't a digital voice recorder a bit passe? Do you use it with your Palm Pilot?

So far I used it only for recording my reflections (my cell phone does not offer this option). It can also be used as a small (only 2 Gb) external hard disk.

I am not promoting Sony and my mini-tutorial might be useful to some people. I am a retired teacher who wants to be useful.

Have a good day,

1) Another thing one can do (but I did not do it) is to store and play MP3 music files, and listen to them while walking, etc. My unit does have a headphone jack.

2) The recorder came with the CD loaded with software that can be used to convert sound into text. But it is not for MAC computers, unfortunately.
