Hello folks, I am looking for a little guidance here. I am moving from SF, CA to Toronto, Ontario in about a month and will be needing a cell phone. I was a little surprised to see that Canada's cell phone proiders have very little in common with American providers, and so far I haven't been able to find a plan that suits me. Here are my needs.

I will be in the GTA/Southern Ontario for the majority of my calling. I will be in Northern California for the rest (maybe 5% of the time). I will be calling the U.S from Canada quite a bit, so it is important to me to have included long distance. I expect to use anywhere from 200-600 minutes a month. I would say half of this will be local, and half will be long distance. I would very much like to have a second phone and second number on the account for my wife.

Thoughts?

Thank you in advance,

Kevin

RE: Mobile plans that inc

With any wireless provider you can get a special long distance plan, I suggest avoiding BELL canada at all costs though. Horrible service, horrible plans, horrible phones and horrible people.

Since you will be calling from the US to Canada I would suggest going with a special promotion offered by Telus Mobility. its called the business Talk 40 and its on till May 1st. you get 350 anytime minutes, unltd incoming calling AND FREE US ROAMING FOR 1 YEAR! which will benefit you greatly as you said u will be making calls to and from the US. if you want more u can go withthe Business talk 50 which offers unltd local calling, 500 minutes and free US roaming for 1 year. With any plan with TELUS you get voice mail, call waiting and call conferencing as well as free local calling on your bday.

If you wish to add a line its an extra $25 plus access fees per month. but you'll get an extra 2500 minutes between you and your wife who will be sharing the other minutes with. If you sign up on a contract you will get a phone discount on your first both phones.

you get get more informaiton form here:
http://www.telusmobility.com/on/plans/pcs/business_talk50.shtml

TELUS'S partner down south is Verizon Wireless and Nextel, the biggest cellular provides in the States.

Hey guys - thanks. I went with Telus Business 50 plan, it looks like it will fit my needs perfectly, and I can add my wife at anytime for $25. I appreciate you pointing me in that direction!

Oh - one more thing. Why avoid Bell? I ask only because both my sisters and a couple Canadian friends use them and seem to like them. Is there something I'm missing?
