No argument there, except the 70s were great here. The 80s were a pain in the ass for quite a few people trying to find jobs, though.
70's were awful in Canada; high inflation, high unemployment, rising interest rates. Not till the US turned around in '82 did things slowly start to get better here.

Yep. I agree that recovery could have been better, but in truth, DOHbama only inherited the mess. There are a few faulting factors involved but the root of the problem was corporate greed and gov't catering to it.
The root was the Community Reinvestment Act; Banks were forced by legislation to give out sub-prime mortgages.

That was like 1978 and later. Before that things were pretty bright. Not as bright at the 60s but still weren't too bad.

Nope. That was only one factor involved. It was not the root.
